INVITATION TO TENDER
LANDSCAPING OF NEW PUBLIC SQUARE IN HACKNEY LONDON
Groundwork Hackney is an environmental charity which works with partners to improve the quality of the local environment, the lives of local people and profitability of local businesses.
We are working with the London borough of Hackney as part of an innovative multi-sector partnership in Dalston towncentre ( Hackney's principal town centre) to develop a new public square adjacent to the main shopping street. The project has been selected by the Mayor of London to be one of the first ten public-spaces to be developed under his 100 Spaces for London programme, which is being overseen by Lord Richard Rogers the government's lead advisor on Urban Renaissance.
Landowners on the adjacent sites have recently secured planning permissions to redevelop their plots as a high quality mixed use development including galleries, workspace and potentially a new town centre library. Preliminary design work has been completed by Hawkins-Brown the scheme's architects.
The partnership is now seeking a landscape-design practice with experience of completing innovative urban spaces that are relevant to multi-cultural communities in areas of London experiencing regenerative change. They will be required to work with the team and see the project through to physical completion.
Full details including the brief are available on Groundwork Hackney's website: www.ground-level.org. Project details are available here. (Matthew Carrington 020 8985 1755).
